After the triumphant launch of Iron Meat in September, the crew at Retroware has been tirelessly investing their energy into plotting a forward path, brimming with substantial content updates for their modern retro masterpiece.
Their very first major update for Xbox is now ready to grace your screens, serving you a delectable array of fresh content to explore!
Mirror, Mirror
One of the most eagerly awaited features in the game is the introduction of Mirror Mode. This clever addition flips the original gameplay direction, letting you tackle levels from left to right this time. It may sound like a small tweak, but the shift offers a completely new challenge as you battle through waves of enemies, bosses, and engage with the level design anew. To unlock this mode, players need only complete the game once on any difficulty level!
Red Rapid Fire
Another exciting update is the automatic Supercharge upgrade, a powerful third tier of weapon enhancements. With Supercharge activated, all your projectiles are given a fiery red hue, departing from the usual blue or green. Players with all guns maxed out to the green projectile tier can snatch a third version of their weapon to automatically gain the Rapid Fire upgrade, now marked distinctly by the red projectiles.
My 1UPs, Thank You
Exciting news for players with this update: any extra lives you earn will transfer over to the next level. Gone are the days of losing additional lives picked up during play, making strategizing for future battles even more vital and rewarding.
Visual Enhancements to Level Backgrounds
We’ve given the game’s backgrounds a facelift, adding new layers and fine details that deepen the unspoken narrative elements of Iron Meat’s gripping story. Expect to see new scenes like helicopters engaging in battles with Meat monsters, spikes added to mid-boss battles, added surviving pilots in the ending credits, and dynamic scenes of Meat meteors exploding on impacts.
Other Updates
Alongside crucial bug fixes, we’ve also made several tweaks:
- Boosted the damage of the “E”, “U”, and “M” guns.
- Added more Meat to various parts of the Moon Base.
- Reconfigured the attack patterns of the MI-24 helicopter boss for clearer combat strategies.
- Adjusted portions of all levels to enhance fairness, such as allowing players to take down Meat worms and Meat Mouth Doors immediately when encountered.
We’re thrilled to continue growing Iron Meat’s universe, and this update is just the beginning. Stay tuned as we roll out more content down the road! Iron Meat is ready for you to dive in today!
Iron Meat presents a rollicking adventure into a world overrun by The Meat — bizarre interdimensional beasts. Blending old-school arcade action with modern-day mechanics, players will face mutated foes, dodge barrages of bullets, and utterly demolish bosses over nine graphically intense levels. Playing as Vadim, your mission is to thwart the havoc unleashed by Yuri Markov’s moon-based experiments.
Key features include multi-phase boss fights, three-tiered difficulty modes, and couch co-op to double up on firepower. With more than 30 unlockable skins, the character customization is as wild as your imagination, allowing quirky combinations like sharks with robot limbs or cowboy hybrids with tails. It’s time to grab your controllers — adventure awaits!
