It’s that time of the week again—welcome back to another edition of Box Art Brawl!
Before we jump into our latest face-off, let’s recap what happened last time. We took a look at Double Dragon for the NES, and boy, was it a nail-biter. With over 1,600 of you casting your votes, the Western design edged out a victory, grabbing 53% of the vote. Hats off to the winner!
This round, we’re setting our sights on the Game Boy Advance as we explore Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. This title is a delightful remake of Kirby’s Adventure, initially released toward the end of 2002, nearly ten years after the NES classic. While the core gameplay remained largely unchanged, the game boasted revamped graphics and a new co-op mode for up to four players, fully utilizing the GBA’s capabilities.
In this showdown, it’s Europe and North America versus Japan. Let’s dive in!
Make sure to have your say in the poll below, but first, let’s take a closer look at the box art contenders.
### Europe / North America
The feel of the design you’ll be voting for here hinges on whether you’re drawn to something dark and intense or light-hearted. The Western design opts for the former, showcasing a determined Kirby front and center, while Meta Knight ominously lurks in the backdrop. It’s a departure from the usual cutesy Kirby vibe. But if you’re craving something more traditional, let’s take a peek at what Japan has to offer.
### Japan
True to form, Japan delivers a design that’s more emblematic of a classic Kirby vibe. The art is bright and cheerful, featuring a smiling Kirby to the right, surrounded by an array of twinkling stars. While it might not exactly reflect the ‘nightmare’ concept suggested by the game’s title like its Western counterpart, it’s undoubtedly a charming piece of artwork.
Thanks for taking part in the vote! Catch us next time for yet another exciting round of Box Art Brawl.
