Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X 1TB Digital Edition, which comes in a sleek white finish, is tagged at $449.99. The Xbox Series S 1TB, also in white, is the most budget-friendly at $349.99. However, it’s important to note that these models aren’t hitting the shelves in India just yet.
Technical Changes
Tech reviewer and YouTuber Austin Evans has shed some light on the updates in these new models compared to the Xbox Series X from 2020. One of the key improvements is the new heatsink system. Additionally, the design overhaul includes a refreshed motherboard and the removal of the shield over the SSD, which are quite noteworthy alterations.
Further insights from Evans reveal that the new Series X packs a smaller 6nm SoC. In terms of energy consumption, the original Xbox Series X from 2020 uses 61 watts while on standby. In comparison, the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition requires just 51 watts, and the Digital Edition is even more efficient at 38 watts idle. Evans ran tests using Forza Horizon 5, finding that the Xbox Series X needs 167 watts, whereas the Digital Edition and the Galaxy Black Special Edition demand 156 watts and 151 watts, respectively.
In addition to console updates, Xbox has announced the second half of their October game lineup. Gamers can look forward to titles like MechWarrior 5: Clans, COD Black Ops 6, Dead Island 2, Ashen, among others. Keep an eye out for more as the Xbox Partner Preview is set for this week, featuring exciting expansions like Alan Wake 2.
