Halfbrick Studios, alongside Ian Fitz, the original mind behind The Thrill of the Fight, has brought fans something they’ve been eagerly waiting for—the sequel to this beloved boxing simulator. It’s out now in Early Access on the Quest platform.
The Thrill of the Fight 2 arrives as a fresh take on its predecessor, compatible with Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro headsets. Unlike the original game, which focused exclusively on PvE battles, the sequel has introduced a much-anticipated feature right at launch: online PvP boxing.
In this Early Access phase, the game solely offers multiplayer modes, catering to enthusiasts ready to dive into online boxing matches immediately. As Halfbrick Studios explains, “Single player content and further improvements to multiplayer are underway and will be progressively added throughout the Early Access period.”
The roadmap reveals that development is set to continue into 2025. Players can look forward to the introduction of compelling single-player content, featuring AI opponents with dynamic behaviors and appearances, alongside new training modes and other enhancements. Regular updates during Early Access will enrich the game, refining both the content and the overall immersive experience, according to the studio.
Currently, players can enjoy customizable avatars, a competitive online PvP mode with skill-based matchmaking, and realistic physics promised to deliver that authentic boxing sensation. Also included is a spectator camera feature, providing a ‘live sports’ broadcast style on a connected PC, perfect for sharing your matches with others.
For those itching to get started, The Thrill of the Fight 2 is priced at $10 and available on the Horizon Store right now.
