The renowned maker of handheld gaming devices, Ayaneo, has just unveiled their latest flagship, the Ayaneo 3. It carries forward the successful design of its predecessor with a familiar shape and button layout but introduces a host of enhancements under the hood.
As detailed in their official blog, the Ayaneo 3 is set to come with an option of two powerful processors: the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the heftier AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Notably, it boasts a stunning seven-inch display that can either be a high-refresh LCD or an OLED HDR, ensuring an immersive visual experience. They’ve also added two extra buttons on the back of the console, providing gamers with greater control.
However, Ayaneo has yet to divulge more specifics about the Ayaneo 3. We’re eagerly awaiting further information regarding its RAM, storage options, and pricing. Its predecessor, the Ayaneo 2, came with either 16GB or 32GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 512GB to 2TB. Price-wise, it started at $1,099, with the limited-edition B.Duck model reaching up to $1,549. We can speculate that the Ayaneo 3 will follow suit with these configurations, possibly at a slightly increased price.
This new release places Ayaneo at the forefront, becoming one of the first brands to utilize the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 in a handheld console. Although current games aren’t fully tapping into the HX 370’s NPU, the extra four cores, Zen 5 architecture, and the AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU contribute to significant performance enhancements, certainly surpassing the existing Ryzen Z1 Extreme found in many top-tier handheld gaming PCs.
The Ayaneo 3 steps into a competitive arena, already brimming with fantastic choices. With releases like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two anticipated by the year’s end or early 2025, it’ll be intriguing to see how this new contender sets itself apart and what unique gaming experiences it offers to enthusiasts.
