Torn Banner Studios, the creative minds behind Chivalry, are navigating some tough times with a series of layoffs impacting their team. Steve Piggott, the CEO and creative director, broke the news on LinkedIn, explaining that these job cuts are part of a broader restructuring effort. Unfortunately, he didn’t specify exactly how many positions would be affected.
Despite the difficult decision, Piggott assured that the employees losing their jobs will receive severance packages and are allowed to keep their work computers. Additionally, the studio is committed to assisting them in finding new opportunities at other gaming companies wherever possible.
“As an independent and self-funded studio, we face many hurdles,” Piggott mentioned, highlighting the challenges they confront. He emphasized the team’s caring approach during this transition and expressed gratitude towards the affected staff, acknowledging their dedication and passion that have helped shape Torn Banner into what it is today.
Importantly, Piggott reassured fans that the development of Chivalry 2 remains on track and unaffected by these staff changes. Torn Banner’s mission to create unforgettable cinematic experiences continues undeterred. Their most recent endeavor, “No More Room in Hell 2,” currently in early access, is central to their studio’s vision. They believe they’re crafting a standout zombie experience, aiming for a full release in 2025. The team is still fully committed to their project roadmap and engaging with the community to enhance the game.
He also confirmed that Chivalry 2, which received its final update earlier in 2024, will not see any interruptions, with servers continuing operations as usual.
