Square Enix has announced that the upcoming season of Foamstars, aptly named “Party Goes On!”, will be the multiplayer shooter’s final foray into seasonal content. Running from December 13, 2024, to January 17, 2025, this marks the end of regular seasonal updates for the game. However, don’t worry—this doesn’t mean the game will become obsolete.
Even after the conclusion of Foamstars’ seasonal updates, the game will remain accessible, with fresh features on the horizon to keep players engaged. Square Enix plans to roll out updates that include customizable shot options for each character and new enhancement elements. In their statement, they mentioned these updates will allow players to “enjoy the game for the foreseeable future,” suggesting Foamstars is not going away anytime soon.
Once the “Party Goes On!” season wraps up, players can look forward to a new series of events called the Foamstars Cup. This will shake things up by replacing existing modes like Ranked Party Tribe-Vibe and Ranked Party Lonestar with new leagues such as the Foamstars Cup Freedom League and the Foamstars Cup Legend League. Each league, named after specific Foamstars, will rotate every four weeks and offer enticing rewards such as themed items and icons. These events will run daily, keeping things lively in the game.
Furthermore, starting January 17, 2025, previous Season Passes will become available again. This allows both rookies and veterans to revisit and complete any Season Pass at their own pace, free of additional charges. Do note, though, that while the basic Season Pass is complimentary, the Premium Pass still demands a purchase. Also, specific tiers within a pass can be unlocked for direct access to certain rewards.
Post the upcoming season, Foamstars will see some changes to its challenge system. The existing Limited Time challenges will evolve into Event Challenges. They’ll split into two categories: Daily Challenges, updating every day, and Event Challenges that refresh every Saturday. Weekly challenges will mostly stay the same but will now cycle every four weeks instead of five.
Launched in February 2024 for the PS4 and PS5, Foamstars initially garnered “Mixed to Average” reviews, with a 57 metascore on Metacritic. It initially debuted as part of February 2024’s PS Plus monthly lineup and was later available for purchase on the PS Store for $29.99. Since August, it has made the shift to a free-to-play model, encouraging more gamers to jump into the foamy fun.
