The holiday season is bringing a festive twist to Dying Light 2 with the launch of the “Winter Tales: Gifts from Above 2024” event. This Christmas-themed celebration is now live, inviting gamers to dive into the holiday spirit with a mix of seasonal activities and exclusive rewards. Developed by Techland, who previously dubbed last year’s event a gift to the community, this limited-time offering promises to be equally delightful.
Coinciding with the release of update 1.20, which enhances the game’s prologue and addresses prior issues, Techland has brought back the Winter Tales event to their beloved open-world zombie survival game. This update not only tweaks some gameplay elements but also sets the stage for fans to revisit the festive fun that the Winter Tales event introduces.
As players immerse themselves in the event, they’ll have the chance to earn unique items like the Killer Krampus Outfit. By taking on bounties from the special vendor Baka and gathering Christmas decorations, they can unlock various rewards. Winter Sweets collected during the event can be traded for legendary items such as the Skoll slashing weapon and the Punisher. Returning to the fray are Uncle Snow and his infected minions, alongside a new adversary known as the Ice Spitter — a zombie with a knack for long-range attacks.
In these gift-giving times, every Dying Light 2 player enjoys access to the Above the Law Bundle for free until January 2, thanks to Techland’s generosity. Typically available for purchase using DL Points, this bundle includes the Peacekeeper Outfit, two blueprints, and a paraglider skin.
Earlier in update 1.19, Techland treated players to a Halloween-themed Tower Raid. This game mode shifted Dying Light 2 into a roguelike experience, complete with a new boss, additional floors, and special characters furnished with unique abilities. The update also worked on bug fixes and introduced several quality-of-life enhancements.
Techland surprised fans back in August with the announcement of Dying Light: The Beast, a standalone title featuring Kyle Crane, the original protagonist. Initially planned as a second expansion for Dying Light 2, its scope widened after a story leak led Techland to reconsider the narrative. For those holding the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2, Dying Light: The Beast will be available without any additional cost.
The narrative of Dying Light 2 continues to unfold 20 years after the original game’s events. Aiden Caldwell, a wandering Pilgrim, navigates through the remnants of humanity, connecting survivor settlements while in pursuit of his sister Mia, who might still be alive in Villedor, the last city standing. The game’s storyline is filled with intense combat, opportunities for alliances, and the ominous threat of nightfall, making each foray into the city a constantly shifting adventure.
With these updates and events, Techland keeps the thrill and engagement alive for its Dying Light franchise, giving players ample reason to return to the zombie-infested streets of Villedor during this festive season.
