Sony recently dropped its annual wrap-up showcasing the most downloaded games across its PlayStation platforms for 2024. Looking at the PSVR 2 stats specifically, there hasn’t been much change since its launch year, but that’s hardly unexpected.
Approaching the two-year mark, the PSVR 2 has weathered some criticism for lacking the exclusive titles and robust developer backing that its predecessor enjoyed after its launch in February 2023. However, loyal fans of this PS5-tethered VR headset would beg to differ.
PSVR 2 undoubtedly holds its own as a powerful device, allowing developers to push for higher render resolutions and more intricate visuals than even Meta’s flagship, the Quest 3. It further extends its capabilities to play PC VR games, thanks to a wired adapter Sony released last June. However, a glance at the PlayStation Store’s download stats reveals what’s truly capturing gamers’ attention.
Take a look at the adjusted chart below, where we’ve added the original release dates for context:

Unsurprisingly, the perennial favorite Beat Saber from 2018 holds the crown in both North America and Europe. It’s often the first game we suggest to newcomers.
The latest entires in the chart from 2024 include Vertigo Games’ Metro Awakening, though it’s worth noting its chart-climbing time was short since it only launched in November. Legendary Tales by Urban Wolf Games finally hit its full-grade 1.0 release in February 2024 across all VR major platforms, ready for fresh eyes after a prolonged Early Access on Steam.
We have to remember that Arizona Sunshine 2, a sequel zombie shooter from Vertigo Games, launched late in 2023, which may explain its tighter window to rack up those download stats last year.
