Far Cry New Dawn has just been added to Xbox Game Pass, and members can dive into the game today as part of their subscription. This marks the first addition to the service in February 2025, and it’s already the 14th game to join the lineup since the turn of the year.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Far Cry New Dawn is a spin-off from Far Cry 5 that initially launched on PC and consoles back in February 2019. The game received a fair response from critics, managing an average score of 73 on OpenCritic and a 54% recommendation rate. On the player side, reactions have been mostly positive on Steam, with a 3.5-star rating in the Xbox Store. While players and critics alike have appreciated the game’s captivating post-apocalyptic world and engaging exploration, some have expressed disappointment with the underdeveloped characters and the somewhat forced RPG elements.
As we approach the game’s sixth anniversary, it’s now part of the Xbox Game Pass roster, available in all tiers except for the XGP Core. Achievement seekers can work towards 50 trophies, amassing up to 1,000 Gamerscore points. Beyond the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, the game can be played on PC and through Xbox Cloud Gaming, which is exclusive to XGP Ultimate members.
With the inclusion of New Dawn, Xbox Game Pass now offers three entries from Ubisoft’s acclaimed Far Cry series. Alongside it, subscribers can also enjoy Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6, added in July 2022 and December 2023, respectively.
Speaking of what’s next, Xbox Game Pass has a confirmed lineup for February, with Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed slated for release on February 18. However, unlike Far Cry New Dawn, Avowed will initially only be available to those on the Ultimate and PC tiers of the service, reflecting its status as a day-one release.
Far Cry New Dawn jumpstarts February’s first wave of Xbox Game Pass additions, with more titles in the lineup expected to be revealed shortly, possibly even today, February 4. It aligns with Microsoft’s tradition of announcing new Xbox Game Pass releases every other Tuesday. However, not all news is purely celebratory—by February 15, seven titles, including A Little to the Left and Tales of Arise, will be removed from the service.
As Xbox Game Pass continues to evolve and add diverse titles, it remains a dynamic platform offering rich gaming experiences. Keep an eye out for more updates and enjoy your new gaming adventures!
