The diverse cultures you encounter on your journey really breathe life into the game by highlighting what each holds dear, like their gods. Take the Aedyrans, for instance. They are a nation deeply rooted in principles of rightful rule, leadership, and order, now finding themselves in the vast frontier of Eora. Watching them try to assimilate with the locals is intriguing. Perhaps it’s a subtle change in their attire or a shift in their lifestyle. This “Wild West” draws a wide array of characters, and their strict adherence to order might clash with the demands of the tumultuous Living Lands.
As Patel points out, “Someone who primarily reveres Woedica places a premium on law, order, justice, and rightful rulership. If Abydon, the Smith, is your deity of choice, it’s not about disregarding the other gods, but celebrating industry, hard work, and dedication above all else. This enables us to endow these factions and groups with distinct ideals that are easily recognizable, keeping the player well-informed about their core values.”
This theme extends to the game’s architecture and clothing, where design draws inspiration from these cultural ideals. “The game world truly feels like a living, breathing entity,” observes Lead Environment Artist, Dennis Presnell. “This sensation isn’t just in the game; it’s been a part of the development process as well. Everything is iterative—each new asset or creative idea adds to the mix, building off of one another. It all comes together into a world that is rich with variety and authenticity.”
