Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 recently unveiled a delightful nod to the classic tale of Puss in Boots, discovered by an enthusiastic player during their exploration. This amusing Easter egg adds another layer to the myriad of hidden gems players have been uncovering in the game.
Its predecessor had already set a high bar, teeming with references to pop culture. The 2018 release featured nods to renowned series like Assassin’s Creed, The Witcher 3, Monty Python, and Game of Thrones, among countless others from the realms of film, literature, and gaming. Following in its footsteps, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which launched on February 4th, is proving to be just as rich with concealed surprises, much to the delight of its community.
Reddit user Pandiux90 made this latest charming discovery while navigating Kuttenberg in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. They speculated that this depiction of a cute gray cat, adorned with leather boots and gripping a tiny wooden sword, might be a reference to the famed Czech fairy tale, Mikeš. However, for players outside of Czech culture, it’s more likely reminiscent of the beloved Puss in Boots, a character with roots in 16th-century Italian folklore that’s become a universal icon.
You’ll need to head to the outer northern wall of Kuttenberg for a chance to spot this adorable nod. It’s tucked away east of the Kolin Gate, one of the game’s numerous fast travel spots. Amidst some foliage, the cat stands as if vigilantly guarding a mysterious sack.
Kuttenberg is indeed overflowing with quests and secrets, with the Puss in Boots Easter egg being merely a glimpse of what’s in store. But, there’s no rush to get there. The Troskowitz region is also brimming with engaging tasks and quests, some of which become inaccessible if delayed until after transitioning to Kuttenberg.
The game smartly alerts players when quests are close to auto-failing due to story progression. This occurs shortly after completing the Wedding Crashers quest. However, once you move on to the second region, you can still visit Troskowitz freely without any issue.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues to excel by building on the success of its predecessor, juggling an engaging storyline, intricate quests, and delightful Easter eggs like the Puss in Boots scene that keep players charmed and eager to explore every corner of its world.
