Nintendo recently highlighted the importance of exclusive games when it comes to launching the Nintendo Switch 2, underscoring how critical these titles are for the system’s success.
This conversation arose during a session with shareholders, who were curious about whether new titles for the current Nintendo Switch would still roll out once its successor hit the market.
Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, addressed these concerns by saying, “We’ve already announced that Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are on the docket for the Nintendo Switch with a 2025 release date. With so many people still enjoying the Nintendo Switch, our goal is to continue developing engaging software and releasing new titles.” He added, “However, we recognize that exclusive games play a pivotal role when we introduce new hardware. Considering this, we’ll explore various strategies for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 to ensure that we bring joy to a wide audience.”
If you’re eager to learn more about what’s next from the company, there’s a Nintendo Direct presentation dedicated to the Nintendo Switch 2. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 2nd, with the broadcast kicking off at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET / 2 p.m. BST / 3 p.m. CEST.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to make its global debut in 2025, although the exact launch date hasn’t been pinned down just yet.
