To craft epic weapons and armor like the powerful Final Battleaxes and the resilient Gypceros Coil in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll need to get your hands on some novacrystals.
If you’re on the hunt for these elusive crystals, our guide has you covered. We’ve pinpointed the best places to find novacrystals and tips on how to gather them efficiently.
### Discovering Novacrystals in Monster Hunter Wilds
Novacrystals can be harvested from mining outcrops scattered throughout virtually every region in the game. Whether you’re wandering through the Windward Plains, exploring the depths of the Scarlet Forest, braving the harsh Iceshard Cliffs, or delving into the ancient Ruins of Wyveria, you’ll find these outcrops. Look for them on your map marked with a blue icon. Access your map and double-tap right on your D-pad. Use the filter to locate mining outcrops and set a waypoint for your journey by scrolling through options with the D-pad.
Each outcrop allows for three items to be collected before it’s depleted, and it will refresh approximately every 15 minutes. Given that novacrystals are not the most common finds, you might need to check out multiple outcrops to get lucky.
Another source, though less reliable, is destroying the crest of a Gypceros, which has a small chance of dropping a novacrystal. Additionally, tackling high-rank hunts might yield novacrystals as potential rewards.
### Maximizing Your Mining Gains
To enhance your mining efficiency, there are ways to collect more from each outcrop in Monster Hunter Wilds. Armor, talismans, and decorations imbue your character with various skills, and reaching level 3 with the Geologist skill grants you one extra item from each mining session.
Equipping the right gear, such as the Geology Charm talisman, Chainmail armor, and Geology Jewel decorations, equips you with the Geologist skill. However, to benefit from this skill while mining, you need to reach its third level, which means equipping at least three pieces giving you this skill – think the Chainmail Headgear, Armor, and Gloves.
Keep in mind, while the Geologist skill doesn’t increase the number of times you can mine a single outcrop (still limited to three), it does boost the quantity of items obtained with each action when you hit Circle/B.
With these insights and strategies, you’ll be well-equipped to track down novacrystals and utilize them to forge the mightiest gear in Monster Hunter Wilds. Happy hunting!
