Exciting news for Star Wars trading card enthusiasts: the latest expansion, Jump to Lightspeed, has hit the online shelves. Just like its predecessor, Twilight of the Republic, this new addition arrives with Booster and Prerelease Boxes. However, Jump to Lightspeed shakes things up by introducing two novel ways to collect: Spotlight Decks and Carbonite Edition Boosters. We’ve spotted some preferred online outlets where you can snag these goodies, but don’t forget to give your local game store a look too.
True to its name, Jump to Lightspeed delves deep into the vessels, pilots, and commanders of the Star Wars universe. Gamers will encounter fresh Leader cards featuring characters like Grand Admiral Thrawn and Wedge Antilles, alongside legendary ships such as the Millennium Falcon, Home One, and The Invisible Hand. Below, you’ll find various purchase options for this eagerly anticipated expansion.
In a shift from previous expansions, Jump to Lightspeed doesn’t come with a two-player starter box. Instead, it offers premade decks centered around fan favorites Han Solo and Boba Fett. Currently, Miniature Market is the place to grab these Spotlight Decks—a pair will set you back $34.99. These decks, each consisting of 50 cards, come with tokens, a rulebook, and a Jump to Lightspeed Booster Pack to kick off your collection.
Each Spotlight Deck also boasts four exclusive cards that aren’t available in Booster Packs. We’ve included a full list of the deck’s cards for your perusal below.
For those already familiar with the Star Wars Unlimited universe, the Prerelease Box is a top-notch way to start collecting from the Jump to Lightspeed expansion. Prerelease Boxes come loaded with a deck box, two premium leader cards from the new expansion, tokens, a quick-start rulebook, and six Jump to Lightspeed Booster Packs. These boxes are currently available from Miniature Market for $29.99.
If you’re after more cards, the Booster Boxes for Jump to Lightspeed contain 24 sealed Booster Packs, each packing 16 cards from the new expansion. These are also up for grabs at Miniature Market for $84.99.
The breakdown of cards in each Jump to Lightspeed Booster Pack remains consistent with past expansions. Each pack serves up 16 cards including nine commons, three uncommons, one rare or legendary card, one base or token card, a Leader card, and a foil card of random rarity.
Now, let’s talk about the intriguing Carbonite Edition Booster Packs, which are a fresh addition with something special for the die-hard collectors. Although not available for pre-order, these single Carbonite Edition Booster Packs will sell at launch for $24.99 each, with 12-pack display boxes priced at $299.99. They’re a hefty investment compared to standard Booster Packs, but they offer a richer assortment of cards featuring alternate art treatments like foil, Showcase, Hyperspace, and Hyperspace Foil cards. Only one batch of Carbonite Edition boosters will be made, so they’re bound to be hot items for collectors.
Additionally, the Carbonite Edition Boosters introduce Prestige variants—these are ultra-rare cards that come with distinctive artwork and can appear as foil cards or one of only 250 serialized copies of that card. This makes them a true catch for any ardent collector.
