Disney Dreamlight Valley is all set to dazzle fans with its next big update. Slated for release on April 23, the Wonderland Whimsy update channels the magic of the beloved Disney classic, Alice in Wonderland. After much anticipation and speculation, this theme aligns perfectly with the playful hints dropped earlier by the developers.
The excitement began to build last November when Disney Dreamlight Valley unveiled its Free Content Roadmap for 2025. In a clever bit of foreshadowing, the winter scene featured nods like Jasmine’s jewel-encrusted headband and Aladdin’s iconic fez, prompting many to predict the duo’s appearance in the Winter 2025 update. Likewise, the spring image teased a mysterious forest with a familiar, enigmatic grin reminiscent of the Cheshire Cat, sparking theories of an Alice in Wonderland-themed update. Fans’ predictions proved spot-on when official teasers for the Wonderland Whimsy update hit social media on April 14.
Moving into what’s on the horizon, each Disney Dreamlight Valley update typically brings an array of features: new characters to meet, enhancements to gameplay, a fresh Star Path, exclusive items in the Premium Shop, and overall feature enrichments. With Wonderland Whimsy, players can expect to see Alice and the mischievous Cheshire Cat as the latest residents to join the valley. These characters, like others, will come with the standard set of ten Friendship Levels to unlock rewarding content.
To unlock these characters, players will dive headfirst into the Wonderland Realm. Expect a thrilling journey through the rabbit hole, navigating the enchanted forest, and tackling the Queen of Hearts’ card army inside her elaborate maze. Alice’s quests are said to revolve around a charming tea party feature, while the Cheshire Cat will introduce playful unpredictability by appearing in unexpected places throughout the Valley.
The Star Path for Wonderland Whimsy, named Garden of Whimsy, mirrors the update’s whimsical theme. It retains the familiar six-tier structure, although its potential expansion remains a mystery. This path draws inspiration not only from spring and Alice in Wonderland but also from the Disney Fairies universe. The associated attire captures a blend of pixie charm and Victorian elegance. Additionally, the Premium Dreamstyle for this season embodies Minnie Mouse, while the Companion features Alice in Wonderland’s whimsical caterpillar in its butterfly form.
As for fresh features, they’re anything but ordinary. The playful April Fools’ gag promising the Dreamlight Stompers, which supposedly allowed players to dismantle items, turned out to be a red herring. Instead, the real surprise is the Uncrafting station—an item offering the same functionality. Players will unlock it within the Cheshire Cat’s friendship quest line. Quality of life improvements also continue, with the option to purchase more storage slots for small to medium chests using Dreamlight. In build mode, a new sub-grid feature now better accommodates items with surfaces, making it easier to display various knick-knacks and recipes. Plus, the Premium Shop is set to feature new Star Wars-themed items in anticipation of May 4. Get ready to dive headfirst into a fantastical version of Wonderland on April 23.
