Schell Games and Innersloth have revealed some exciting news for fans of Among Us VR (2022): the game is getting flatscreen support, allowing for crossplay between VR and PC players.
Alongside this, the developers have announced a rebranding effort for the VR game, which will now be known as Among Us 3D. This marks the first time PC players can experience the game from a first-person viewpoint.
The new Among Us 3D will enable gamers on PCs to connect with VR users across all major platforms, such as Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets, creating cross-platform lobbies for everyone to enjoy.
It’s worth noting that Among Us 3D won’t be compatible with the original Among Us (2018), which is still a standalone experience since the debut of Among Us VR in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, the Project Director at Schell Games, expressed his enthusiasm: “With Among Us 3D, we’re thrilled to bring the first-person perspective to an even broader audience. This integration of VR and PC players means there are now more ways to strategically deceive your friends—everyone can join in the chaos!”
This rebranding is set to roll out over the coming months, with updates planned for store pages, websites, and in-game branding.
Furthermore, Among Us 3D will introduce a new in-game currency, ‘Stardust’, aimed at letting players purchase cosmetic items while also supporting the game’s further development.
Although a specific launch date hasn’t been announced yet, players won’t have to wait long to get a glimpse of the new version. Among Us 3D is set to make an appearance during Steam Next Fest, offering an exclusive early demo for eager fans.
