Yesterday marked the launch of Bigscreen’s eagerly anticipated Beyond 2 PC VR headset, and it quickly caused a stir among virtual reality enthusiasts. Thanks to cutting-edge pancake lenses, Beyond 2 promises an enhanced field of view and clarity, which has led to impressive sales figures that surpassed the original Beyond model within just ten hours of going live.
Bigscreen has been sharing its success story on X, offering a glimpse into the warm reception that Beyond 2 has received from the PC VR crowd. The level of excitement is evident: “In the first 25 minutes, Beyond 2 managed to outsell the entire first day of Beyond 1’s launch sales. It took just one hour to double what we did on the launch day of the first model,” the company enthusiastically reported.
As updates continued throughout the day, additional insights into the commercial performance of Beyond 2 and its eye-tracking version, the Beyond 2e, were provided. The latest sales benchmark is nothing short of astounding: “In just 10 hours post-launch, Beyond 2’s sales have eclipsed those of Beyond 1’s first four months,” the company shared excitedly.
With the initial pre-orders flying out the digital door, future shipments of Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e are now slated for June 2025, although the very first batches were scheduled for April and May.
So, what explains the massive hype around Beyond 2? While the full details and specifications are covered in-depth elsewhere, a significant draw seems to be Bigscreen’s straightforward upgrade path. They offer Beyond 1 customers discounts—$849 for the Beyond 2 and $1,049 for the Beyond 2e—and the new headset maintains compatibility with most accessories from its predecessor, including the essential custom facial interface.
Beyond its compatibility, Beyond 2 introduces several hardware improvements. It features revamped pancake lenses that deliver a broader 116-degree diagonal field of view and an adjustable IPD mechanism—all within a lighter 107g design. The 2e variant ups the ante with AI-driven eye-tracking technology. Both versions retain the impressive dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays from the original, but the updated lenses promise better clarity and an expanded field of view.
Priced at $1,019 and $1,219, respectively, for new buyers (with a special price reduction for those upgrading from the Beyond 1), the headsets were unveiled alongside a new halo-style mount and Lightblocker facial interface, set to hit the market in the third quarter of 2025.
For those eager to immerse themselves in the next level of virtual reality, Beyond 2 and its accompaniments can be explored further on Bigscreen’s website.
