As the excitement builds for the highly anticipated release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC, we’re finally getting a complete rundown of the hardware you’ll need to get swinging through New York. Just like its predecessors that made the jump from PlayStation to PC, there’s some encouraging news here.
Sony has laid out a comprehensive list of the system requirements, ranging from the bare minimum to what you’ll need for “ultimate ray-tracing.” But fear not—if ray-tracing isn’t your thing, you have the option to turn it off.
Let’s break it down.
## Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC System Requirements Revealed
Jumping into all the graphical glory Spider-Man 2 has to offer means you’ll need a powerhouse of a graphics card. The Ultimate Ray Tracing setup demands an RTX 4090, or if you’re lucky enough, the not-yet-released RTX 5090 could do wonders.
But what about less powerful setups? This is where it gets interesting. You can still enjoy the game with more modest hardware. Sure, you’ll be at 720p and 30FPS on lower settings, but being able to play at all is a plus. And don’t worry—the recommended specs aren’t outlandish by any means.
## Playing Spider-Man 2 on Handheld Devices: Steam Deck and ROG Ally Possibilities
While there’s no official word yet on whether Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be playable on the Steam Deck, there’s reason for optimism. Steam currently lists compatibility as “Unknown,” but past experiences give us hope.
Even with the minimal requirements, there’s no clear indication about how the Steam Deck’s GPU or AMD Z1 Extreme graphics will handle the game. It’s the same old story.
Both the Steam Deck and Windows 11 handhelds have shown they can run surprisingly demanding titles. Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man Miles Morales have been successfully played on handhelds, with many having enjoyable experiences. Personally, I’ve found the first game runs nicely on my Steam Deck, and dropping down to 30 FPS doesn’t take away from the fun.
What’s especially promising is the support for AMD’s FSR 3.1 and Frame Generation. If all goes well, this tech could ensure a smooth gaming experience on handhelds.
While we play the waiting game, rest assured that we’ll dive deep into testing Spider-Man 2 on both the Steam Deck and Windows-powered handhelds once it drops. Stay tuned!
