The excitement is building in the virtual world community as creators and enthusiasts gear up to showcase their innovative projects at the OpenSimulator Community Conference. If you’re keen to share your latest work, mark your calendar—proposals are due by October 29, 2024, for this prestigious twelfth annual event dedicated to the OpenSim community.
“We’re eagerly anticipating our twelfth year, where we celebrate open source virtual worlds through artistry, technology, and educational endeavors,” expressed event co-chair Cynthia Calongne, or “Lyr Lobo” in the virtual world. Her enthusiasm is contagious as preparations for this two-day extravaganza unfold, scheduled for December 7 and 8. Attendees can expect a rich lineup of talks on creativity, technology, and educational themes, all revolving around OpenSimulator and the open metaverse.
Calongne emphasized the event’s inclusive spirit in her conversation with Hypergrid Business, saying, “We are eager to witness your innovative content and hear about your successes.”
Organizers are on the lookout for presentations that highlight groundbreaking content, achievements within the OpenSim ecosystem, and imaginative applications of OpenSimulator technology. Additionally, they’re keen on hearing visions for the future of open source virtual environments.
The format is straightforward: each speaker gets 20 minutes to shine. Beyond the talks, the conference will host community-led tours, an Expo, and offer content giveaways alongside opportunities for hypergrid exploration.
Notification emails regarding proposal acceptance will be sent out by October 31, and those accepted must confirm their participation by registering no later than November 7.
To get everyone in the festive spirit, the event kicks off on December 6 with music and art activities, setting the stage for the main conference on the following days.
