HOOP-O Studios, a fresh face in the indie gaming scene, is gearing up to release its remote-controlled aerial combat game, Alex and the Jets, on the Quest 3 next month.
In this casual arcade flight adventure, you’ll step into the shoes—well, paws—of Alex the Squirrel, piloting a petite fixed-wing propeller plane. It’s not all smooth flying, as members of ‘The Jets’ gang will burst through portals appearing on your walls, challenging you to take them down. As you navigate, you’ll aim to soar through donut-shaped rings that offer weapon upgrades and health boosts.
Beyond the intense skirmishes, the game offers a more relaxed free roam mode, where you can buzz around your living room without any pressure. You’ll also find local leaderboards to gauge your skills, and a cosmetics store to customize Alex with new outfits.
An interesting tidbit is that the gameplay footage in the trailer was captured directly from the headset’s camera, a nod from HOOP-O that shows their confidence in the product. While the exact release date is still under wraps, they’re aiming for an April debut on the Horizon Store, compatible with both Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
