Imagine this: you’re getting an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at a movie set, all from the comfort of wherever you are right now. Think about it—all the elaborate sets, the thrilling stunts, and even the star-studded cast—right at your fingertips. And guiding you through this cinematic journey is none other than director Eli Roth.
We’re thrilled to bring you an exciting new video filmed on the set of the eagerly anticipated video game adaptation, Borderlands. In collaboration with Light Sail VR, Roth captured some astonishing footage alongside a stellar cast, including Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Ariana Greenblatt. Although the footage shines its brightest in VR, trust me, it’s just as impressive in 2D.
“I’m a huge fan of VR and have been shooting with a GoPro 360 since 2018,” Roth shared enthusiastically. “During the pandemic, set visits were out of the question, so I wanted to offer fans a taste of being on set while we recreated the vibrant world of Borderlands. In the footage, you’ll witness the incredible work from our art department in Budapest, get close to the actors during action rehearsals, and watch Cate Blanchett and Ariana Greenblatt perform stunning stunts like running and jumping from a truck bed high in the air. Partnering with my friends at Light Sail VR, we crafted an immersive experience that puts you right at the heart of the action. It truly captures the essence and energy of being on set with us in the wild world of Borderlands.”
Now, let’s get into the story itself. In Borderlands, Cate Blanchett portrays a legendary bounty hunter returning to her home planet, Pandora. Her mission? To track down the missing daughter of the villainous Atlas, played by Edgar Ramírez. Along her journey, she allies with an eclectic group of characters to unravel one of Pandora’s greatest mysteries. Joining the adventure are Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Mark your calendars—it hits theaters on August 9.
