Existing subscribers aren’t entirely forgotten, though. Those looking to boost their membership from Essential to Extra or Premium, or upgrading from Extra to Premium, also qualify for a price cut.
The situation is a bit more complicated for current subscribers, especially those with Premium memberships who honestly don’t have any higher tier to move to. These players are reportedly entered into what feels like a discount lottery draw for renewing or extending their subscriptions.
Taking to Reddit, players are sharing mixed experiences. Some lucky ones are finding deals to extend or renew their memberships, while others — myself included — are seeing no special offers at all. As for me, an Essential member, the system shows a 30% deal for upgrading to Premium and a 25% cut to switch to Extra, but there’s no price break if I want to continue as is.
This kind of randomness isn’t entirely new for Sony; they’ve been offering sporadic deals like this for a while. However, with a noticeable pivot towards individualized offers, these variations have caught more attention now than ever before.
