Following the Meowth and Chansey Wonder Pick events, Pokémon TCG Pocket is back with another exciting reason to fire up your phone in search of those elusive digital cards. This time, it’s the Fire Pokémon Mass Outbreak Event. Rather than testing your skills with fresh single-player challenges, this event hooks in those who enjoy keeping tabs on their Wonder Pick options throughout the day.
Here’s how the event goes down: Until November 28, a special “Bonus Pick” will show up in the Wonder Pick menu. It’s a freebie that lets you choose a random fire-type card from a set of five at no charge. Be sure to snag a Bonus Pick every time it appears, as these options can show up multiple times throughout your play sessions. Also, watch out for the “Rare Picks” in the Wonder Pick menu. Although these offer more exclusive cards, they come at the cost of Wonder Stamina, which naturally refills over the course of 36 hours.
Here’s what awaits you in the Bonus Picks lineup:
The cards include Charmander, Charmeleon, Vulpix, Ninetales, Ponyta, Rapidash, Growlithe, Magmar, Heatmor, and Blaine. Even if none of these cards stand out to you, it’s still worth claiming them since they come without a cost. Eventually, fans of Fire decks will appreciate completing the Charmander, Vulpix, and Ponyta lines, especially when paired with a Blaine card. A quick hint for ambitious trainers: a Ninetales boosted by Blaine’s extra 30 damage can take down a Pikachu EX in a single blow!
Switching gears to the Rare Picks, here’s what’s in store:
Available cards from this pool include Arcanine EX, Charizard, Moltres, another Ninetales, Rapidash, Charmeleon, and Blaine. Deciding whether Rare Picks are worth your Wonder Stamina requires some thought. While a Charizard EX isn’t up for grabs here, Arcanine EX stands out as the rarest choice—but it doesn’t exactly dominate the current meta. With its 120 damage for three energy, it’s a decent option against the often-seen Pikachu EX. Keep in mind, though, that the randomness of Wonder Picks doesn’t guarantee you’ll snag the card you’re after. Opting for Rare Picks might score you a Wonder Hourglass and a Shop Ticket with an Arcanine EX, which is an added bonus but perhaps not a driving reason to go for it.
Although all Wonder Picks offer some consolation prizes, these are particularly enticing. Ninetales and Rapidash can wreak havoc when used alongside Blaine. You’ll also need Charmeleon for any worthwhile Charizard deck. And if Charizard or Moltres are still absent from your collection, now’s your chance to round out your roster.
Should you splurge your saved Wonder Hourglasses on Rare Picks when they appear? Well, unless you’re missing a lot of these cards, there’s no real need to chase aggressively. However, if you’re simply looking for a practical way to spend your stocked Wonder Stamina, this event is certainly a good option. Just prepare yourself for the possibility of seeing the more coveted cards flip away right after you’ve made your choice.
