Exciting news with a twist. While Helldivers 2 players successfully defended the notorious Malevelon Creek from its latest threat, they’ve lost another planet to the relentless Meridian Singularity. But the community isn’t overly worried. They’re more curious about whether Arrowhead will follow through on the community’s latest big update theory.
If you haven’t been keeping up, saving the Creek was a significant achievement. This was its first appearance in the Galactic War since earning its own in-game memorial day after a fierce battle last year. Meanwhile, the latest planet to be swallowed marks the third destruction by the Illuminate’s black hole, which is far from ideal.
Currently, players are eagerly awaiting a new major order. They’ve processed the debriefs from the last one, which celebrated their victory at Malevelon Creek and solemnly noted, “efforts to slow the Singularity have worked, but too late to save Ivis. The Illuminate will face Justice for their crimes.”
You’d think there’d be an outpouring of grief over the loss of Ivis, similar to the mourning over Moradesh and Angel’s Venture, right? Well, there was some sadness, but also quite a few players who seem a bit indifferent. One user, FisherandFries, expressed on the game’s subreddit, “As devastating as it was to lose the first two planets, I feel like this plot has been sidelined for so long that now it just feels like an inconvenience to lose a planet, rather than an actual loss.”
In essence, many players are growing weary of the Meridian Singularity storyline and are itching for some new content from Arrowhead to rejuvenate their enthusiasm.
Naturally, this has led many to latch onto a popular community theory that Arrowhead might release a significant update on April 8. While there’s no solid evidence behind this theory, it’s driven by the fact that the date coincides with a lot of Helldivers 2 activities.
Alongside the scheduled patch updates for Tuesday, it’s also the day of the BAFTA Games Awards, in which Helldivers 2 is nominated, and the launch of the crowdfunding campaign for the official HD2 board game.
Will Arrowhead roll out something new? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, are you growing tired of battling the Illuminate’s menace? Share your thoughts below!
