The team at Seattle-based Jar of Sparks recently received news that they will be putting a hold on their debut project as they hunt for a new publishing partner. Jerry Hook, the studio’s founder, shared this development on LinkedIn, expressing pride in the progress the team has made on the game so far. Jar of Sparks was launched in July 2024 with support from Chinese entertainment giant NetEase, but it seems that NetEase is no longer in the picture as a publisher for their initial project.
“In our journey, our passionate and innovative team took bold risks, pushing the envelope to create something genuinely exciting for the gaming industry,” Hook shared, highlighting their adventurous approach.
He went on to express, “We are incredibly proud of the foundation we have built together. As we move forward, our talented team members will be on the lookout for new opportunities. If you’re in search of top-notch professionals with a unique and driven mindset, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d gladly connect you with some of the finest developers I’ve had the joy of working alongside.”
In similar news, Jar of Sparks isn’t the only NetEase-backed studio facing hurdles. Just last November, Worlds Untold also announced a pause on its initial game development.
