Jagex, the renowned developer behind RuneScape, has welcomed Jon Bellamy as its new CEO. Bellamy takes over from Phil Mansell, who has been at the helm since 2017. During his previous stint at Jagex from 2015 to 2018, Bellamy was part of the strategy and M&A team. His career has since flourished with roles at London Venture Partners and Huuuge Games, where he served as Chief Commercial Officer for nearly five years.
Bellamy’s resume also includes advisory roles with companies like Pixion, Kohort, Stealth, and Maximillian. Interestingly, he’s no stranger to Jagex’s ownership circle, having worked with CVC, one of its owners. Moreover, Bellamy has been a board member at Jagex since October 2024.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Bellamy shared, “Leading Jagex is a tremendous privilege, especially for a franchise like RuneScape that holds significant value for millions, including myself. I’m thrilled to collaborate with the exceptional team here—familiar faces thanks to my board experience—to keep elevating our games globally. I’m eager to dive into discussions with the team about our goals for Jagex and will soon outline my vision to the RuneScape community.”
Phil Mansell reflected on his tenure, saying, “After 14 years with RuneScape and eight as Jagex’s CEO, it’s time for me to pass the torch to Jon Bellamy. Working with a gifted and passionate team, we’ve expanded both the company and our player base, firmly establishing Jagex as a leader in community-driven gaming. As we embark on this new chapter, I’m confident Jon is committed to our games and our business as much as I am, and I’m excited to support him in building on the solid foundation we’ve laid.”
