Yesterday marked the exciting debut of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and it made a spectacular entrance on Steam, quickly climbing to the top of the Top Sellers list. Impressively, it reached a peak of 159,351 concurrent players, a remarkable achievement for a historical RPG!
This sequel to the ambitious Kingdom Come Deliverance, which originally dropped in 2018, has taken the franchise to new heights. The first installment did quite well, peaking at 96,069 players on Steam. So, this significant jump in numbers shows the growing popularity of the series, and that’s just counting Steam players! The game is also available on consoles, expanding its reach even further.
But let’s be real, there are plenty of reasons why this game is causing such a stir. In my review, I pointed out how the game masterfully balances the thrill of adventure with the gritty authenticity of its historical roots. The original game left a lasting impression, creating a buzz that only fuelled anticipation for this sequel. It’s brilliant to see a series improving and attracting a larger player base over time.
Now, it’s likely that this peak won’t be surpassed, unless maybe during launch weekend. While a single-player game offers a fantastic experience, most folks tend to move on once they finish it. Of course, there are always those die-hard fans who dive back in or return out of nostalgia later on. Nevertheless, this successful launch is sure to bring smiles to the faces at Warhorse Studios and the development team.
