Krafton, the well-known Korean gaming company, has recently initiated another series of layoffs at Striking Distance Studios, the team behind The Callisto Protocol. The development first came to light on LinkedIn as employees impacted by the cuts shared their experiences and concerns on the platform. Krafton has since confirmed this news to PC Gamer, but reassures that the studio is still very much in operation.
A representative from Krafton explained, “Striking Distance Studios has decided to downsize to maintain agility, fostering a sustainable environment for our ongoing development phase.” Although the team has been reduced, the spokesperson emphasized that the studio will continue to function, and these adjustments will not hinder any planned support. As of now, no additional changes are anticipated.
This isn’t the first time Striking Distance has faced layoffs. In 2023, the studio, which originally launched in 2019 under the leadership of industry veteran Glen Schofield from Sledgehammer Games, let go of 32 employees, accounting for roughly 20% of its workforce at that time. Their debut game, The Callisto Protocol, was unveiled in 2022.
