Sanzaru Games, the creative force behind the Asgard’s Wrath series, has just rolled out the last content update for Asgard’s Wrath 2, exclusively available on Quest. The studio has hinted at moving on to what they describe as their “next big thing.”
According to a report from MIXED, this latest update marks the final major addition to Asgard’s Wrath 2, the action-packed follow-up to their original 2019 hit on the Rift, Asgard’s Wrath. Dubbed ‘The Long Winter’, the twelfth and final ‘Cosmic Event’ went live last week, bringing with it a fresh batch of challenges that’ll take place over the month. These challenges are designed to be unlocked over time, giving players the chance to earn points and score exclusive in-game cosmetics.
Asgard’s Wrath 2 launched in late 2023, compatible with Quest 2 and newer devices, and boasts an impressive campaign that exceeds 60 hours of gameplay. This figure doesn’t even account for the time spent diving into those monthly Cosmic Events.
The game’s Community Manager recently noted on the Sanzaru Discord that “This will be our last major title update for Asgard’s Wrath 2. Going forward, you should expect fewer updates. We’ll be concentrating on big issues and resolving any notable bugs. While the community may have been hopeful, there are no plans for further content development for Asgard’s Wrath 2. We wanted to be upfront with everyone.”
Adding to this, the studio mentioned they’re now shifting gears to work on some “AWESOME stuff.” They expressed excitement for the day they can reveal their next big project to their loyal following.
The future of Sanzaru’s endeavors is still wrapped in mystery. Since becoming part of Meta (formerly Facebook) back in 2020, the studio has focused exclusively on crafting games for Meta’s lineup of XR headsets. Given their track record of delivering high-quality RPG experiences, it seems plausible that their upcoming project will continue to showcase their expertise in this genre. Whatever they’re brewing, fans of the studio have plenty to look forward to.
