Minisforum recently pulled back the curtain on its next generation of AMD Ryzen-based products, featuring a brand-new lineup that includes both a Mobile on Desktop (MoTD) motherboard and a Mini PC powered by the Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" CPU.
While attending the "Japan IT Spring Week," Minisforum took the opportunity to reveal its cutting-edge offerings that harness the power of AMD Ryzen processors. These innovations span across MoTD motherboards, compact Mini PCs, and advanced NAS systems.
First on the list is the Minisforum "F1FGM" MoTD Motherboard. Continuing the MoTD legacy, this board integrates the latest CPU technology. It flaunts an mATX design equipped with proper heatsinks across critical components such as the VRMs, M.2 slots, the PCH, and even an IO cover. This model serves as the successor to the BD770i and BD790i series, which included the Dragon Range "Ryzen 7000HX" CPUs. Now, users can experience the Fire Range "Ryzen 9000HX" series CPUs.
This motherboard can host the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, a beast with 16 cores and 32 threads, built on the Zen 5 core architecture. It boasts a boost clock speed reaching up to 5.4 GHz and contains a hefty 64 MB of L3 cache. By default, it’s rated at 55W, but this desktop-quality "mobile" chip is tunable up to 160W, delivering a premium performance level.
You can also expect configurations with other processors, including an "X3D" option. For cooling, it’s equipped with a vapor chamber baseplate since these mobile CPUs lack an IHS. The motherboard’s VRM is a 13-Phase Duet rail setup with 60A SPS power stages. It also features four DDR5 DIMM slots with a standard UDIMM design, supporting up to 256 GB and speeds up to 8000. The X870M chipset aligns closely with the B850 series. There are two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 & 4.0 x16), three M.2 slots (one rated at Gen5x4), plus two SATA III ports and cutting-edge IO options like USB4, 5GbE LAN, and WIFI7. Additionally, two BIOS DEBUG LEDs are included.
The Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC also features AMD’s Ryzen 9000HX "Fire Range" CPUs and builds on the success of the MS-A1 series with its Ryzen 8000G CPUs. Equipped with current IO solutions, it includes three M.2 slots (one usable as U.2), a 10 GbE LAN through an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot for low-profile cards.
The Mini PC motherboard stands apart with two SO-DIMM slots, offering up to 96 GB capacity support and 5200 MT/s speeds. The IO consists of dual USB 3.2 Gen Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a USB 2.0 port, two 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and outputs for DP+HDMI.
Lastly, the Strix-powered "N5 PRO" NAS showcases the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, loaded with 12 cores, 24 threads, and the Radeon 890M iGPU. This NAS can accommodate five 3.5-inch drives, set up in RAID, with a design focused on easy drive removal and installation. Capable of holding 48 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMMs, it also includes a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for video interface options.
Each drive bay supports HDDs up to 22 TB, complemented by three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots (2x Gen4x1 and 1x Gen4x2). On the connectivity front, there’s a single 10 GbE and a 5 GbE Ethernet port, alongside three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
Minisforum plans to launch these innovative solutions in the upcoming months, so keep an eye out for more updates.
