Capcom has kept its promise and delivered some exciting news about the first major update for Monster Hunter Wilds. Announced during the recent Monster Hunter Showcase livestream, fans were treated to a sneak peek of the exciting new content set to launch soon.
As for the important details, the first Title Update, TU1, is slated for release on Friday, April 4 (or April 3 if you’re in the PDT timezone), and it will be available across all platforms.
Starting with some exciting reveals, Ryozo Tsujimoto, the series producer, shared a brand-new trailer that gave us our first glimpse of Wilds’ new area, The Grand Hub, accompanied by an incredible rendition of the game’s theme. Though reminiscent of past settings, this version of the Cantina has a unique vibe compared to those in World or prior games.
The Grand Hub serves as a central gathering area for Hunters and brings together numerous NPCs in one place. Plus, it introduces a fun new minigame called Barrel Bowling to keep players entertained. You’ll gain access to The Grand Hub after reaching HR16 and chatting with Tetsuzan in Suja.
The trailer also unveiled Mizutsune, with all its enchanting bubble and water attacks making a return. Players can square off against Mizutsune at HR21 and above. Defeating this creature unlocks a host of fresh armor options for your Hunter.
Alongside Mizutsune, Title Update 1 introduces more formidable foes. The first of these is Arch-Tempered Rey Dau, featured in an Event Quest. New armor variations are available for this challenging version of Rey Dau. Arch-Tempered monsters offer a level of difficulty unlike any seen before, and this quest is open to players at HR50 and up.
Moreover, Zoh Shina is now available to fight outside the campaign in its own quest, unlockable at HR50. To access it, you must complete a specific mission available upon reaching HR50. Zoh Shina provides materials that allow you to craft some of the coolest gear found in the game.
Another new addition in TU1 is Arena Quests, which are timed challenges where players aim to hunt monsters in the shortest time possible. These quests come with a fresh leaderboard. It’s important to mention that Arena Quests have specific equipment requirements, so practice with unfamiliar weapons might be necessary. While Challenge Quests limit participation to two players, a more accessible version called Free Challenge Quests allows for full-party play with any weapons.
Elsewhere in this update, you can now change Alma’s outfits. TU1 introduces a complimentary outfit for players to test out, with more expected down the line as part of free DLC. For those who purchased the premium editions, Cosmetic DLC Pack 1 launches alongside TU1.
Looking ahead, Monster Hunter Wilds will inaugurate Seasonal Events with the Festival of Accord, a spring celebration beginning on April 23. This occasion will transform the look of The Grand Hub and update the available meals.
Lastly, Capcom briefly teased what lies ahead after TU1. At the end of May, update 1.011 will make its debut, bringing the first Capcom Collaboration and other exciting features. Further down the line, a summer TU will introduce Lagiacrus, teased at the showcase’s conclusion.
