COLD VR, the anticipated follow-up to the popular SUPERHOT VR from 2016, is gearing up for its release on Quest and PC VR headsets next month, with a PSVR 2 version coming shortly after.
SUPERHOT VR might have a few years under its belt, but it’s still a beloved classic. It’s actually surprising that more game developers haven’t attempted to mimic its innovative time-stop movement mechanic.
While COLD VR takes inspiration from SUPERHOT VR, it turns things on its head by requiring players to move faster. In this game, slowing down means time speeds up—and so do your enemies. If you dawdle too long figuring out your next move, you might find yourself quickly overwhelmed.
In an exciting new trailer, developer ALLWARE has announced a partnership with publisher Perp Games to bring COLD VR to Quest and PC VR headsets with a launch date set for January 21st, 2025. As for the PSVR 2, that’s expected down the line, though no exact date has been confirmed yet.
The game ups the ante by introducing not only smarter enemy AI but also environmental challenges like deadly lasers and moving platforms. Moreover, it has unexpected twists for the adventurous types, according to ALLWARE.
