Acer is shaking up the graphics card scene with the introduction of six fresh models under the Radeon RX 9070 series banner, showcasing both base and overclocked (OC) versions capable of reaching boost clocks of up to 3.1 GHz.
In the world of RDNA 4 GPUs, AMD’s partner Acer has just taken a bold step forward, unveiling a new roster of graphics cards. These include the cutting-edge BiFrost and Nitro editions. Although Acer has been dabbling in the AMD card arena for some time, they haven’t been as prolific as other AMD allies. This latest endeavor arms them with a lineup of six models—three per series.
For those eyeing variety, the selection includes two Nitro versions tailored for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070. Alongside these are the BiFrost editions for each GPU. While the BiFrost line stands out with Acer’s top-notch design and cooling prowess, the Nitro range takes aim at the mainstream audience without skimping on impressive specs.
Let’s dive into the BiFrost selection: the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB sports a sleek triple-fan cooling setup. It’s adorned with stylish silver accents around the central fan, thanks to the FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans and a clever counter-spin design optimized for heat management. With its imposing 295 mm length and 2.5-slot thickness, this card promises top-tier gaming performance, clocking in at a factory-overclocked speed of up to 3.1 GHz.
Its sibling, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB, shares this impressive design but swaps out one of its three 8-pin power connectors. Despite this, both models share a 340W power rating—quite intriguing, as the RX 9070 typically demands less juice. While two 8-pin connectors coupled with the PCI-E x16 slot adequately supply 340W, room for overclocking remains the domain of the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC.
Now, shift focus to the Acer Nitro lineup, which offers both non-OC and OC versions for each RX 9070 model. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC mirrors its BiFrost counterpart in having a triple-fan setup, a boost clock of up to 3.1 GHz, and comparable dimensions and power requirements. The non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT, meanwhile, sits at a slightly lower power rating of 304W but retains the trio of 8-pin connectors. This model can push boost speeds to 2970 MHz and game frequencies to 2.4 GHz.
Rounding out the collection are the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB models. Here, you’ll find boost clocks of 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The OC variant demands 245W, while its non-OC sibling settles at 220W, all while maintaining a consistent design.
While Acer has yet to disclose complete pricing details, they have announced that the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB will hit shelves at an eye-watering $829.99. Given the premium nature of the BiFrost edition, prepare for a steeper tag there. Availability remains under wraps for most models, though we do know the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC will make its US debut come April.
