NVIDIA enthusiasts are in for quite the wait if they’re hoping to snag the RTX 5090 or 5080 GPUs from Overclockers UK, with potential delays stretching from weeks to a few months.
NVIDIA RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Pre-orders Halted: Anticipated Restock Windows
It seems the launch of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series didn’t go as planned—what many are calling a classic ‘paper launch.’ Several retailers didn’t receive any RTX 5090 GPUs at all, and those that did had such limited quantities that they sold out almost immediately. The RTX 5080, although slightly more available, also disappeared from shelves in a flash despite offering only marginal improvements over previous models.
For those eager to purchase these GPUs, patience will be essential. Overclockers UK has not only sold out of these cards but has also stopped accepting pre-orders. There’s currently no option to place an order on their website, even if you’re willing to wait. So, when can we expect them back in stock?
According to a statement from Overclockers UK, we’re looking at a wait of 3 to 16 weeks for the RTX 5090, with the RTX 5080 likely to reappear in 2 to 6 weeks. If the wait for the RTX 5090 stretches to its maximum, it would likely be available by mid-2025, around May. By then, NVIDIA plans to have launched the RTX 5070 Ti on February 20th, closely followed by the RTX 5070 in March.
RTX 50 Series Stock Update (31/01/2025)
Due to unprecedented demand and limited availability, all 50 Series cards sold out swiftly, with only a few pre-orders allowed. Estimated restock times are:
- RTX 5090: 3–16 weeks
- RTX 5080: 2–6 weeks
– Overclockers UK
There’s hope that the RTX 5080 might make a comeback in about a month. Its initial availability was slightly better in various global markets compared to the RTX 5090, yet demand still outstripped supply. Though not as advanced as the RTX 5090, the RTX 5080 attracted a huge buyer interest because it maintained the same price point as the RTX 4080 Super.
The hype for these GPUs saw some buyers camping outside stores, and in certain places, retailers even resorted to lottery systems to manage the rush for these high-demand products. If you’ve pre-ordered an RTX 50 series GPU from Overclockers UK and haven’t received a confirmation email yet, your order may still be in the queue.
This scenario explains why Overclockers UK has paused pre-orders. It’s unclear how long other retailers worldwide will take to replenish their stock, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be happening in the immediate future.
