On Tuesday, NetherRealm Studios pulled back the curtain on their latest addition to the Mortal Kombat 1 roster with a new trailer, and it’s a blast from the past: the Terminator T-1000. This iconic, liquid-metal adversary, known for his relentless pursuit, is showcased in all his menacing glory, flaunting a combat style that mirrors the film portrayal by Robert Patrick. However, despite this impressive debut, it’s Madam Bo, an upcoming Kameo Fighter, who truly steals the show. In a scene that caught everyone off guard, Madam Bo delivers a hilarious yet brutal smackdown to Shang Tsung with none other than her trusty house slipper.
In a display that’s both endearing and fearsome, Madam Bo channels her inner wrathful grandmother during her Fatal Blow sequence. She expertly grabs Shang Tsung by the ear, methodically removes her house shoes, and lets loose with a slap so powerful it seems to knock out half his teeth. And while Shang Tsung later finds himself on the receiving end of the T-1000’s piercing attacks, courtesy of his liquid-metal skewering, it’s clear that Madam Bo’s slipper attack is the real highlight.
That being said, the T-1000’s portrayal is nothing short of a perfect homage to its silver screen origins, yet cleverly reimagined for Mortal Kombat 1’s gameplay dynamics. Skilled fans will notice some familiar moves reminiscent of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, including the iconic skewering attacks. There’s even a tip of the hat to Killer Instinct’s Glacius in its fluid fighting style. And speaking of weaponry, the T-1000 incorporates Kabal’s infamous hook blades, with a backstory that hints at an encounter from a past—or possibly future—meeting.
We also get a glimpse of the T-1000’s Animality, a jaw-dropping transformation into the K-9000. This ferocious police dog brings a world of pain as it unleashes chaos on Johnny Cage.
Mark your calendars: the T-1000 and Madam Bo are slated to arrive in Mortal Kombat 1 on March 18 for those who have the Khaos Reigns expansion. Fans eager for individual purchase can grab them on March 25. The release of the T-1000 marks the final character addition in this expansion, and while NetherRealm hasn’t revealed plans for future characters, fans are surely buzzing with excitement.
