Earlier today, we got an exciting scoop from industry insider NateDrake. He spilled the beans that “Halo: The Master Chief Collection,” previously exclusive to Xbox, is anticipated to make its grand arrival on the PS5 by 2025. But that’s not the only Xbox fan favorite set to jump ship; a beloved shooter might grace Sony’s platform sooner rather than later.
### Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Rumored to Arrive on PS5 This Year
Windows Central’s Jez Corden has stirred the pot with some intriguing insights, claiming that three more Xbox exclusives are making their way to the PS5. Fans could soon see “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2,” “Age of Mythology,” and “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” on Sony’s console in 2025.
NateDrake also hinted at a few more intriguing possibilities; alongside Halo, the “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024” might land on PS5 this year. There’s chatter about “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” and “Rebirth” making a leap to Xbox in 2025 and 2026, respectively. If Jez Corden’s whispers hold true, this year might be a financial home run for Microsoft.
“If these bits of gossip pan out — and do remember, rumors are just that until something official is said — Microsoft could see an unprecedented surge in content-related revenue this year,” Corden suggested. “The company is sitting on a goldmine of first-party projects, with yet-to-be-announced titles lined up for a reveal at the Xbox Showcase, usually held in June.”
Corden added, “For many releases, we’ll likely see PlayStation and Nintendo Switch versions ready either at launch or shortly thereafter. The studios working on these games stand to benefit from significant income and investments, helping them scale new heights.”
Whispers about “Gears of War” marching over to PlayStation have been doing the rounds since early last year. Originally released for the Xbox 360 in 2006, “Gears of War” is considered a cornerstone franchise for Xbox. The Ultimate Edition, which improved the graphics of the original, hit the shelves in 2015.
It’s not entirely shocking to see Xbox bringing its gems over to the PS5. Games like “Pentiment” and “Sea of Thieves” have already settled in on Sony’s platform, and with heavy hitters like “Indiana Jones” and “The Great Circle” due to follow, the transition seems logical. Yet, the potential move of iconic titles like “Gears” and “Halo” is particularly noteworthy given their deep roots with Xbox. As always with rumors, keep some healthy skepticism; more will be revealed once these ports are officially announced.
