This week, Combat Waffle Studios and Beyond Frames Entertainment, the creative forces behind the VR survival shooter “Ghosts of Tabor” from 2023, are excited to announce the early access launch of their latest VR game. Drawing significant inspiration from the classic “Rust” released in 2018, this upcoming title is sure to capture the attention of fans of the survival genre.
Developed by Spoonfed Interactive, with significant input from Combat Waffle, the game, known as “GRIM,” is set to deliver a compelling Rust-esque survival experience to both PC VR and Quest users beginning this month.
“Grim,” much like its predecessor “Rust,” is designed to immerse players in a world dominated by crafting and resource scavenging. Players will find themselves on a Mars that’s been depleted of its resources, a haunting landscape littered with abandoned colonization attempts. The first version available for play will be accessible on SteamVR headsets and Quest starting Thursday, January 16th.
Surviving on the Red Planet won’t be a walk in the park. Players will face harsh weather conditions and must scavenge deserted bases for supplies. Keeping track of hunger, hydration, and oxygen levels will be vital for survival. In a consistently evolving environment, your constructed shelters will remain intact until the server initiates its regular weekly reset.
Beyond Frames Entertainment, who previously brought us “Ghosts of Tabor,” is once again handling the publishing for “Grim,” partnering with Combat Waffle Studios to offer developmental support to Spoonfed Interactive, known for its operation by a sole developer.
The launch marks the beginning of what the developers describe as a “collaborative development journey.” It seems they’re taking a similar route to that of “Ghosts of Tabor,” encouraging early adopters to actively participate in the game’s evolution by providing feedback that could influence its mechanics and overall direction.
Starting January 16th, players will be able to dive into “Grim’s” Early Access Alpha on both Quest and SteamVR, with a price tag set at $20.
