When Spider-Man 2 swung onto PC, it promised smooth performance, but reality hit hard with a barrage of technical hiccups revealed in the ‘mixed’ reviews on Steam. Although Nixxes crafted this port, many players found their excitement eclipsed by persistent problems.
So, what’s the scoop? Out of all the reviews flooding in, just over half—about 55%—are on the positive side. Take it from a frustrated RTX 4090 user: “Even with top-tier graphics and updated Nvidia drivers (5.66.36), the game’s crashing left and right.” Another disheartened gamer declared, “PC players, beware. The game’s crashing every few minutes, straight to the desktop. I’ve already asked for my money back.”
The disappointment echoes across the board, with warnings like, “Wait for a few patches before you dive in—it’s a chaotic mess right now.” Reviews highlight misfires in lighting during cutscenes, crawl-speed frame rates, and a heap of audio sync issues. Throw in freezing, random stutters, and it paints a pretty grim picture.
One understandably frustrated player even mentioned, “I’m seeking a refund. Honestly, I’ve got better uses for my $70 at the moment.”
It seems a key problem lies in the game’s graphics crashing constantly, even on high-spec machines. As one review pointed out, the error notification suggests issues ranging from outdated drivers to your GPU overheating or being overloaded with high game settings.
Users haven’t stopped there. Many also cited trouble with DLSS and ray tracing, sluggish load times, texture glitches, and audio faults. After a good few hours of gameplay, stuttering often leads to a dreaded crash, hinting at a potential memory leak.
Responding to these concerns, Nixxes took to the Steam forums, saying: “We’re sorry you’re facing difficulties. Check out the troubleshooting guides on Nixxes Support and reach out if the issue continues. Include your logs and crash dumps as detailed on our site, so we can help swiftly.”
On top of this, Nixxes acknowledged bugs popping up during photo-op missions. “There’s a glitch if your frame rate dips below 20 FPS. Try lowering your settings or resolution to clear that hurdle.”
