Yorutouge is a vibrant and psychedelic Vocaloid-themed rave experience available for exploration in VRChat. Brought to life by VR_SMEJ, this immersive adventure is inspired by the works of Vocaloid songwriter and producer Kikuo. Yorutouge promises a thrilling 20-minute journey through a public VRChat world that’s designed to lift your spirits. As the creators expressed, “Our aim was to craft a ‘manic stopping point’ for those moments when life feels cloudy or burdensome.”
During the NewImages Festival 2025, I had the opportunity to dive into Yorutouge at the XR Market. Among a selection of 14 immersive projects vying for attention in the XR Competition, I experienced this kaleidoscopic world alongside four others. It all starts in an enchanting cave setting, which quickly transforms into a surreal feast for your senses. The dance floor becomes your stage as you embark on an auditory and visual odyssey, grooving to five lively tracks, all mixed live by Kikuo acting as the DJ.
What captivated me the most was how the visual effects enveloped the entire space, transcending the typical nightclub scene. The result is a dazzling display that keeps you on your toes, continually wondering what’s next. However, a word of caution for individuals with epilepsy—this might not be the best suit for you. With a stellar music lineup and an infectious ambiance, Yorutouge stands out thanks to its series of creatively designed environments that ensure you’re never bored.
