Mynd Immersive, a pioneer in providing immersive healthcare solutions, is making significant strides by extending its XR (extended reality) services to an additional 150 senior living communities across the U.S. This expansion marks a groundbreaking achievement in senior care, as it’s the most extensive deployment of XR therapies in the sector to date. With this, Mynd aims to revolutionize treatment options in areas like physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
Since its inception in 2016, Mynd Immersive has been operating in the U.S., Canada, and Australia. The Texas-based firm has crafted over 200 XR experiences compatible with the HTC Vive Flow, HTC’s sleek VR headset unveiled in 2021. Chris Brickler, co-founder and CEO of Mynd Immersive, expressed his early conviction: “We always believed that Virtual Reality could significantly enhance seniors’ quality of life and health outcomes. Today, Mynd is a crucial component of healthcare delivery, driving substantial improvements in functional therapy, cognitive engagement, and staff training.”
In an exciting collaboration, Mynd Immersive has teamed up with Select Rehabilitation, a prominent US-based contract therapy provider. This partnership allows therapists to leverage Mynd’s platform to bolster the cognitive, physical, emotional, and spiritual health of the elderly. Anna Wolfe, CEO at Select Rehabilitation, noted, “Our collaboration with Mynd enriches therapy sessions with engaging, motivating experiences that translate into tangible clinical results. We’re essentially building the therapy room of the future—right now. With these immersive environments, therapists can enhance range of motion, strength, gait training, spatial awareness, and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), making rehabilitation both effective and rewarding.”
The rollout of Mynd’s platform, combined with comprehensive staff training in about 25 communities weekly, is well underway. This expansion to 150 communities aims to introduce XR therapy to over 45,000 residents. And, as the company mentions, this is just the “beginning phase” of their ambitious plan.
