Warner Bros, the entertainment powerhouse, has pulled the plug on a planned expansion for Hogwarts Legacy. According to a report from Bloomberg, this expansion was set to debut alongside a Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter-inspired action RPG, promising gamers fresh storylines.
However, it seems Warner Bros decided the content didn’t deliver enough value for the price they had in mind. The expansion project was under the wings of the original developer, Avalanche Software, with collaboration from Rocksteady. Rumor has it that Avalanche is also busy crafting a sequel to the popular game.
In other news, Rocksteady has faced layoffs, following its decision to end support for the 2024 game, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.”
Warner Bros has been candid about its struggles, admitting last year that its gaming division is not meeting expectations. The company has already taken a hit with a $200 million write-off for “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.” On top of that, Warner Bros recently shuttered three studios, including Monolith, and its long-time leader, David Haddad, has stepped down.
