Switch 2 hype is at an all-time high, isn’t it? Like many of you, I’m stuck in this waiting game for the big Direct announcement. With anticipation in the air and the weekend stretching ahead, I decided to dive into “Faith: The Unholy Trinity.” Something about its retro spookiness is drawing me in, promising a nice, succinct playthrough. And who knows? I might even dust off “Pokémon HeartGold” just for the heck of it. I need a distraction as we crawl through the tail end of February and into March, plus it’s been far too long since I’ve plunged into a mainline Pokémon adventure.
This weekend, I’m at Pokémon EUIC, which means my gaming time will be a tad restricted. But I’ve brought along my trusty 3DS with “Pokémon X” loaded up—seriously, this generation is a classic. StreetPass is already lighting up, so here’s hoping for some new puzzle pieces. If time permits, my partner and I are nearing the end of “It Takes Two,” and wrapping that up would be a sweet victory.
On the flip side, having ticked off several games from my list recently, I’m ready to tackle some fresh ones. “FANTASIAN Neo Dimension” is up next, ideally before “Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition” releases. I was pleasantly surprised by “Guns of Fury;” it’s like a delightful mash-up of “Metal Slug” and metroidvania. Then there’s “X-Out: Resurfaced,” which offers a unique Euro shmup challenge—refreshing against my massive collection of Japanese shooters on the Switch. I’m also diving back into “FreeSpace 2,” especially with the mind-blowing Inferno mod—it’s as close to a sequel as I’ll get! This week’s highlight? “Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog”—a gem for any anime and sci-fi enthusiast. It feels like a throwback to the golden era of storytelling.
Wrapping up Metal Gear Solid is on my agenda, aiming to finish it by Sunday. Listening to some old Retronauts podcasts gave me a nudge towards “Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.” It’s waiting for me on Steam, but I might go for a classic setup with my Staff of Kings Wii disk. Watching Indy on the big screen with a Wiimote in one hand and a cold drink in the other sounds perfect. I had this game as a kid, but my younger self never made it far. Time for a nostalgic re-visit.
That’s our weekend gaming lineup. What’s on yours? Let us know your plans for the next couple of days in the poll below.
