Winking Studios, a well-known Asian triple-A outsourcing company, has just acquired China’s Mineloader, marking a significant expansion move. The total value of this acquisition is pegged at £16.3 million ($19.87 million), with an initial payout of $14.7 million. The remaining amount will be contingent on Mineloader’s ability to achieve certain performance goals over the next five years.
Mineloader, an art outsourcing developer, has been a part of the gaming landscape since 2003. Speaking about the acquisition, Johnny Jan, CEO and founder of Winking Studios, expressed his excitement: “This is the largest acquisition we’ve ever made, and it’s a major step forward that enhances our role in the global video games scene, paving the way for both growth and innovation.”
He went on to highlight the significance of game art in creating immersive video game experiences, emphasizing that it’s foundational to captivating players and defining the gaming journey. Jan is thrilled to have Mineloader’s team of over 460 employees join their ranks, adding to Winking Studios’ workforce of more than 800. This expansion is expected to broaden their service capabilities and attract new clients. Moreover, Mineloader’s strong track record and their presence in the Japanese market are seen as valuable assets that will further strengthen Winking Studios’ business networks.
